Nestled in the heart of Riverview, NB, Cilantro 601 is a vibrant Indian restaurant that offers an authentic journey through the rich and diverse flavors of Indian cuisine, with a special emphasis on South Indian specialties. From the moment you step inside this cozy and immaculately kept space, you can sense the passion and expertise behind every dish served.
The menu features a delightful array of traditional Indian dishes that are both aromatic and deeply satisfying. Among the must-try dishes are the Aloo Gobi, a perfectly spiced stir-fry of cauliflower and potatoes, and the Kadai Paneer, where tender cottage cheese cubes are cooked in a bold tomato and bell pepper gravy, delivering layers of warmth and spice. Fans of creamy indulgence will find the Paneer Butter Masala irresistible, with its soft paneer bathed in a luscious tomato-butter sauce.
For those eager to explore the South Indian cuisine, Cilantro 601 truly shines. Their Masala Dosa comes filled with a vibrant potato and onion masala, wrapped in a thin, golden, and delectably crisp crepe. The Karam Masala Dosa, offering a spicy chilli sauce layered within, provides an enticing kick for those who enjoy a bit of heat. Each dosa is complemented perfectly by an assortment of three unique chutneys and unlimited, homemade-style sambhar, with its rich and comforting aroma that instantly evokes a sense of home.
The Cilantro Special Platters are a perfect introduction for new guests or an indulgence for regulars. The Butter Chicken Platter, with its tender pieces simmered in a creamy tomato sauce, paired with fluffy rice and freshly made parotta bread, receives high praise for its comforting richness. Meanwhile, the Veg Platter offers a wholesome taste experience with chickpea curry and parotta, ideal for vegetarians seeking authentic, robust flavors.
Many patrons have expressed their delight with Cilantro 601’s authentic touches and attentive service. Julius M fondly recounts a quiet lunch experience where the chef personally prepared meals that "tasted true to their roots." My family had a late lunch here, and we had the place to ourselves and the Chef/owner cooked and served. The cozy place was extremely clean and the food delicious! We ordered south Indian dishes only, which were exceptionally tasty. The chef is highly skilled, and the food tasted true to its roots.

Cilantro 601 was a surprise decision we took after The Madras Cafe was closed today. It's in Riverview and there is parking available and it wasn't much busy when we had visited today. The atmosphere was okay, it was air conditioned and decorated with different painting and art pieces from India. So this is basically the second South Indian Restaurant in Moncton after The Madras Cafe which personally for me feels like would give them a good competition especially regarding the prices. They have been open in Riverview for over 4 months now. Just to give a bit more clear info to the fellow Canadians and immigrants living in Moncton, when I say South Indian restaurant, this one specifically is more oriented to the South Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, than something like The Madras Cafe which is more oriented towards the South Indian state Kerala. The service was okay as there was only one person to serve us, this was understandable as we were the only ones there at that time which is why i have given 3 star rating for the service, but have to say the server was really friendly and courteous and was good in communicating and listening to our queries. Coming to the food, we had ordered Vada (3pcs) for starters which were cooked perfectly not fried too much but just perfect, crispy and delicious. Then we ordered Mysore Masala Dosa, Schezwan Chicken Noodles and Ghee Masala Dosa. The Mysore Masala Dosa is the spicy variant of the normal Masala Dosa and it is prepared according to your spice recommendations. There is something called the Karam Masala Dosa which is much more spicier than the Mysore Masala Dosa but we were fine with the Mysore Masala Dosa. The Ghee Masala Dosa is just another variant of Masala Dosa with bit more ghee added to it. Both the Dosas and the noodles were really good especially the Mysore Masala Dosa which were made to perfection and delicious. Finally we ordered the South Indian Coffee which was my personal favourite and the highlight of the experience here. This coffee was so good that it resembled exactly the type of coffee I used to have back in the South of India. Overall would absolutely recommend this place to all the Canadians and immigrants of Moncton who are lovers of Indian Cuisine. You can go in confidently and eat from here. Will be coming back for more. Thank you for having me and my friends

We tried the filter coffee, masala dosa & medu vada and everything was made to perfection. Recommended when you are dining in. The sambar is nice and flavourful and they offer three types of chutneys - mild, medium and spicy.. On a separate day, we also tried their biryanis. The flavour was great but we found our meat a little over cooked. Will give it another try for sure.

Overall, good food and service. Atmosphere isn't anything special. We had the Manchurian Cauliflower starter that was delicious. Had the Hakka chicken with noodles and lamb curry. Didn't particularly enjoy the lamb as it was tough. Not sure we will return but glad we tried it.

This hidden gem was a nice surprise to our family of three. For starters, we ordered the samosas which were huge and flavourful. The right amount of spices in every bite. It came with two dipping sauces; one is sweet and the other was a green chutney. Both were very good and spicy. For our entree, we shared the Parotta Chicken Curry Plate and Lamb Madras with rice. Both dishes were delicious. The parotta bread they served is similar to naan bread but flaky and great for dipping into the curry sauce. Both entrees were 10 out of 10. My daughter also enjoyed the chicken curry as it wasn’t spicy. Wonderful meal for those who like a bit of spice or spicy hot dishes packed with flavour. I can’t wait to go back to try more unique dishes like their Momos!
